Softlay Bedding has been created with the welfare of birds in mind. It is not only soft and absorbent, but also clean, hygienic and helps to enhance biosecurity.

The bedding is treated with Salgard by Optivite, a multi-purpose antibacterial agent, and is also regularly screened for Campylobacter, Salmonella, Aspergillus and E. coli.

Because it is ultra-absorbent, it reduces ammonia levels and cuts down any contact between the birds and the manure. This all helps to prevent hock burn and other potential welfare issues, some Softlay customers have even reported noticeably better pododermatitis rates.

The IEC Softlay team is extremely biosecurity conscious and the bedding delivery vehicles are routinely disinfected on arrival and when leaving the farm.
