In 2020, we tragically lost a former employee and dear friend of IEC, Kitt Blake, who took his own life. Kitt was there from the very beginning of IEC and helped shape the foundations of who we are today. Anyone who met him has a story to tell, each one reflecting his hard work, energy, humour, and the lasting impression he left behind.
Our MD, Keith, wanted to do something meaningful to honour Kitt’s memory and, importantly, to help others who may be facing similar struggles. As a business we want to give back, and this felt like the right way to celebrate Kitt’s life while supporting causes close to his heart.
Keith reached out to Kitt’s family to ask where they would like donations to be made. They immediately thought of PACT Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk—a place that reflects Kitt’s deep love for animals and the compassion he showed throughout his life.
At IEC, we also felt strongly about supporting a charity dedicated to helping people at their most vulnerable. Our industry is demanding, with long hours and periods of lone working that can take a toll on mental wellbeing. After research and input from the whole IEC team, we chose to also support PAPYRUS – Prevention of Young Suicide, an organisation doing vital work to provide hope and practical support to young people in crisis.
We are proud to have donated £2,000 to each charity in Kitt’s honour.
“A very special person who helped build the foundations of IEC Ltd. Kitt was hardworking, a problem solver, never gave up and, most of all, taught us the balance of work hard – play hard. Sorely missed and never forgotten.” Kieth Wilson.
Kitt will always be a part of the IEC story, and now, with these donations, his influence will keep growing.
